Sculpt along 7 – Hat Hair
March 4, 2010 – 12:30 am | One Comment

Hat brim 1

Picture 1 of 26

I begin to add the hat by putting on a blob of firm putty, and smoothing it out top and bottom with the metal tool, which I use because the brim is 'free floating' - uncured and not supported by anything. The ,iddle is defined with the chisel tip of one of the clay shapers, so that I can begin to visualise how it is going to look. This should be thinner than the final body of the hat, because we'll be adding a layer around it later on.

I hope you enjoy this part of the sculptalong, as ever, feel free to comment on it, and show your wip pics on coolminiornot.com/forums, where you can get help and support for your project in particular.  Of course you can also leave feedback here by adding comments.  All the very best with your projects,

James
