So, it seems like a good time to take some time to do some altering to a theme close to my heart, Tolkien’s ‘Lord of the Rings’.

Airbrushed Ninja goblin wip pic

Hey,

ok then folks, here are my next pics… first come the swords:

a few rough points still, but I should be able to smooth them out with a brush. Meh. anyway, next came the flesh. I began with a basecoat of catachan green, and then shot hawk turquoise from below. catachan/goblin green from above, then goblin green, then goblin/skull white. Then I began to fix bits and pieces with various combinations of the above. When I was happy, I cracked out the w&n black ink, to make the under shadows pop, to re-black the teeth, and to blackline a few bits and pieces, and my airbrush let me down. Crap. I was spraying the black ink, which requires a truly delicate touch, because of all the pigment in it ( i was using it neat – I usually have a very light touch), and it started sporadically spitting out lots of water. Before i could stop it, I was left running for paper towel to wipe the model down before it dried into tide marks. Gah! All that work! so after that, it became a matter of mixing up the hawk turquoise and the following mixes and going through the same process agan. Tbh it isn’t as good as it was then, but hey, I was a touch annoyed by then. Anywho, it was done, so that’s good. Then I unmasked it, and here we are. I know it doesn’t look perfect yet, but when I’ve gotten on with the oil paints, I think you’ll find it looks a lot better, and I can start getting colours in there, like cracked skin on the heel, blue/purple nose, toes and fingers, red scar, eyes, purple shading etc. etc. etc.

anyway, I’ve run out of acrylic thinner, so until I can get to a shop for some more, I’m on pause. Sadly I’m working until 7 tomorrow, and 9 the following 2 nights. hmmm…we’ll see.

here is the final project as it stands:
