Ninja Goblin – Airbrushing the Katana Blades, armour and shoes.
Hey,
Next up were the NMM swords. I’ll have 3 stages of mask and spray, plus hand painted white highlights on every angle and hot spots to do, but I’m not quite there yet. I had masked off one of the angles on each side of the blades, so the first thing to do was to add a little colour in the form of tamiya blue – I want the whole thing to be pretty colourful, so it would be a shame not to have the blades coloured too. Then I got all bold (no other way to do good nmm I reckon) and cracked out the citadel skull white. Several very light coats of the stuff sprayed on at an angle gave the smooth transition, and then a close up heavy blast to pick out the shine points. I’m happy with the result, next I’m gonna have to mask that bit and do the same thing on the opposite side of the blade edge, and then finally on the top, but that’s for later. Have a look at how it’s at so far and let me know what you think.
Then I had a go at doing up the armour on the hands. these I painted in scorched brown and bleached bone, with a quick blast of skull white to highlight it. Sadly I was on a roll, and forgot to take any pictures. oops!
Finally for tonight I had a pop at the sandals…I wanted them to stand out from the floor, but still have some tie in to the rest of the model, so I went with Scorched brown base coat, desert yellow and then skull white highlights. The yellow hue should tie them in to the scabbard a little.
Here are all the parts waiting for me to re-mask them for the next stage. Good night!

James
